How The Tuas Viaduct has Enhanced Connectivity to Tuas Industrial Areas

In February 2017, the Tuas viaduct which is also part of the Tuas West Extension project opened to motorists.

The viaduct is also the first integrated road and rail viaduct in Singapore to enhance connectivity in Tuas by allowing motorists to bypass traffic junctions along pioneer road. The Tuas viaduct also benefits motorists as users of the viaduct would be able to avoid traffic lights which also means reduced travelling time. 

Directions When Using the Tuas Viaduct

When travelling from PIE to Pioneer Road, Tuas Avenue 12, 20, Tuas West Road, Tuas South Avenue 3

When travelling on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE), you can look out for signs heading towards Tuas West Road and Tuas South Avenue 3. You may follow the signs and keep to the right towards the Tuas underpass. Upon exiting from the Tuas underpass, you may keep to the right if you are heading towards Pioneer road or towards Tuas West Drive. You may keep left if you intend to use the Tuas viaduct to head towards Tuas South Avenue 3, Pioneer Road, Tuas Avenue 12, 20, Tuas West Road. When travelling on the viaduct, keep to the left lane if you are heading to Pioneer Road, Tuas Avenue 12, 20, Tuas West Road. If you are heading towards Tuas South Avenue 3, keep to the right and continue on the viaduct.

Alternative route when travelling from PIE to Tuas Viaduct

Alternatively, when travelling on Pan-Island Expressway (PIE), keep left and look out for exit 41, towards Tuas Road. Proceed straight and enter the roundabout. You may follow the signs and take the second exit on the roundabout to go onto Tuas Road. If you are using the Tuas viaduct you can keep to the right lane to enter the viaduct towards Tuas West Road, Tuas South Avenue 3, Pioneer Road, Tuas Avenue 12, 20.

When travelling from Tuas South Avenue 3 to Tuas Viaduct, AYE or PIE

If you are travelling from Tuas South Avenue 3 and if you are heading towards AYE (Ayer Rajah Expressway) or PIE (Pan-Island Expressway), look out for signs and keep to the left lane towards Tuas Road to access the Tuas viaduct. Continue along pioneer road and turn left if you are heading towards AYE or PIE. The extreme left lane leads to AYE. Remember to look out for signs which will help you along the way.

What Else is Coming Up For Tuas

Besides the the Tuas viaduct which has enhanced connectivity in Tuas, the Tuas West Extension MRT has also added 4 MRT stations to the East-West Line in 2017. There is also the Tuas Mega Port which will be completing in stages. The Jurong Region Line will also further enhance the connectivity for commuters travelling to the western region of Singapore.
