Why GST is Often Applicable for Industrial & Commercial Properties

Most Landlord GST registered

When it comes to industrial and commercial properties, most landlord are usually GST registered. Hence, if u were to rent or purchase a non residential property from a GST registered landlord or seller, GST would be applicable as GST registered companies in Singapore have to charge GST for non-residential properties.

Makes Sense to Be GST registered

As industrial and commercial properties are usually subjected to GST most of the time, it makes sense for companies to buy these properties using a GST registered company as these GST registered companies will be able to claim back the GST amount paid for the non-residential property. Of course, proper records such as invoices have to be submitted for the GST claim.

Unlike Residential Properties

Industrial and commercial properties, as compared to residential properties are slightly different as residential properties are usually not subjected to GST whereas it is usually common for industrial and commercial properties to be subjected to GST.
