Scissors Lifts & Why They Are Sometimes Seen at Loading & Unloading Bays

Sometimes in industrial buildings, you may or may not see loading & unloading bays with raised platforms and dock levelers. In some cases whereby there are no raised platform and dock levelers, scissors lifts can sometimes be seen at loading & unloading bays of industrial spaces.

Act as Levelers

Scissors lifts also act as levelers to bridge the gap between the goods vehicle and the floor. The scissors lift is lifted up and leveled with the vehicle.

Easier Loading & Unloading

When the scissors lift is lifted up and leveled up with the vehicle such as lorries or container trailers, loading and unloading of goods becomes so much easier.

Forklifts or Stackers May Not Be Required

With scissors lift present, forklifts or stackers may not be required. The use of pallet jacks can also do the job of transferring the goods from the goods vehicle to the scissors lift.

Reduced Time Taken

Also, with scissors lift at the loading and unloading bay, time taken to load and unload is also reduced and goods can be moved to the warehouse or factory in a shorter amount of time. This reduces the number of man hours required to load and unload goods, improving efficiency and reducing labour costs.
