Forklifts and How They Can Help with Your Industrial Operations

In terms of industrial operations, it may sometimes be necessary to use equipment such as forklifts to help with loading and unloading of products or goods from containers, trucks or lorries. Use of forklifts can also help to enhance productivity which can also be important for businesses or company.

Types of Forklifts

There are various types of forklifts in the market which businesses can consider or choose from.

Here are some examples which businesses can consider to rent or to purchase depending on your needs and priorities.

Diesel Forklifts

Diesel forklifts are commonly used outdoors as they are powered by diesel engines and may give off fumes.

Generally diesel forklifts are able to sustain heavier loads for longer periods of time. In terms of running costs, diesel forklifts are also reasonable as diesel is readily available in the market.

When it comes to reliability and lifespan, diesel forklifts are also relatively good. Because of the noise and fumes that diesel forklifts may produce, diesel forklifts may be more suitable for outdoor use.

Diesel forklifts are generally also able to withstand wet weather conditions which is not uncommon in Singapore.

Electric Forklifts

If you are looking for something clean and green which does not give off fumes, electric forklifts can be one of your considerations. This ensures that the working environment is clean and healthy for your employees working in the workplace. Besides being eco-friendly, it is also quiet and is suitable for indoor use.

If your priority is a forklift with less vibrations, you may also consider electric forklifts.

It is advisable to ensure that your electric forklifts are charged sufficiently so that they do not run out of power for you to carry out your day-to-day operations smoothly. Alternatively, you may consider certain models come with spare batteries as overnight charging may be required.

If your working environment is one that has to be clean at all times, an electric forklift may be what your company needs.

Electric forklifts are also suitable for places where ventilation is limited.

LPG Gas Forklifts

If your priority is a forklift that offers performance, power, speed and lower downtime to cater to high capacity requirements, LPG gas forklift may be suitable.

If your business run on shifts and if forklifts are required for longer hours, you may consider LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) gas forklifts which can operate almost the whole day as long as LPG gas refueling is done as and when required.

Similar to diesel forklifts, LPG gas forklifts also give off fumes. LPG gas forklifts are also suitable for warehouse operations.

In terms of performance, LPG gas is in the category that stands out as they can work faster, lift faster and move faster.

Forklift Training & Certification

Forklifts do help with productivity, however, do remember to send your staff or employees for proper training and be certified as required by the local authorities before operating any type of forklifts.

Purchase or Rent

There are many companies offering a wide variety of forklifts and forklift services. If your priority is to keep initial operational costs low, you may first consider renting forklifts before deciding to purchase later on.

This is only a general guide and it is always advisable to be in touch with a forklift specialist or company who will be able to advise you on which type of forklifts will best suit your business operations as there are many types and various models available in the market.
